‘I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard
my cry. 2He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out
of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. 3He has put a new song in my mouth— Praise to our
God; Many will see it and
fear, And will trust in the Lord.’ (Psalm
40: 1-3)
The above prayer was prayed by King David when he
was in a distressed situation. He prayed
and waited patiently for the Lord and God heard his cry. David cried out to God in his prayer. David learned to go to God in prayer.
Many people take God as their last resource; No!
God is our Eternal source. Go to God and
cry out to God and not before men. We go
to our friends and cry to them. They
feel sory for us and comfort us. But
David ran to God and cried out to Him.
What was the outcome of David’s prayer?
God brought him out of a horrible pit, and set his
feet upon a rock, ‘The God of Israel’ and established his steps from
slipping. God did not stop there; He put a new song in his mouth to praise
Him. His life became a testimony before
men who feared the God who heard the cry of David and trusted God.
David set his priority right. He had relationship with the God of Israel.
He knew where to turn to and run to.
